Getting the Word Out About Your Nonprofit the Easy Way

Private label bottled water for church events

“Flaunting money is considered gauche: if you’ve got it, please keep it to yourself–or give some away!” This is from a recent Time magazine article The Simple Life, Goodbye to Having It All. The writer states that Americans are turning away from materialism to embracing volunteering and contributing to charitable organizations. That’s good news for you if you’re part of a nonprofit organization looking to seek fundraising or promote your group.

What Makes People Give?

With an upsurge in the willingness of Americans to help the less fortunate, nonprofit organizations, church groups and awareness groups are all competing with consumers’ attention and donation dollars. There’s no single “secret to fundraising”. People give to a cause or non profit for a number of reasons according to Sheila Brown of Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children, among them are these:

  • They give because there is something in it for them.
  • They give because someone they respect or have a relationship with asked them to give.
  • They are, or have been, personally affected or fear being affected directly, or that one of their family/friends will be affected.

How to Reach Potential Donors

Still, you have to find a way to connect with potential donors, patrons and volunteers. Word of mouth is a practical connection that people value. Combine that with giving away something that reminds people of your organization and it’s a winning situation. This is where handing out custom bottled water with your nonprofit or church’s information comes into play.

How to Make Custom Water Bottle Labels for Your Nonprofit

First, buy the bottled water you plan on using. This bottle is a 16.9 ounce size.

Next, tear off the labels to reveal the area where the label will fit.  Lay the label flat and measure the height and length. Match up the size with the available water bottle label sizes. Create your design online. When your labels arrive peel off the protective backing and apply, smoothing down the seam and pressing firmly.

Sell Custom Bottled Water with Your Logo for Fundraising

In order to sell bottled water for fundraising you’ll need to purchase it already labeled. The FDA frowns upon relabeling and selling bottled water. Relabeling is okay for giving bottled water away, but not for reselling. Custom bottled water comes in cases of 24 bottles. The labels are waterproof so you can put them in coolers full of ice when you sell them.

So I can purchase custom made water proof labels from you and put on already purchased water bottles?
I would need about 500 labels made. … for Church to hand out at a July 4 parade.

    What would cost be?

    1. Hi Mary, Yes! You can do that. We have two sizes: 8 x 2.125 and 8.25 x 1.75. Find our July 4th designs here: https://www.bottleyourbrand.com/independence+day

Is it legal to remove the brand’s labels and replace with our own?

    1. Hi Donna, As long as you are not reselling and are giving the product away, you should be okay. If you are looking to resell the water then you would need to purchase the custom bottled water that comes with the labels already applied.
