Bottled Water Sales Continue to Grow
If you think you are seeing more and more people carrying a bottle of water, you are correct. Bottled water sales have increased every year since 2000 by an average of 9.28% making it the fastest growing segment in the beverage industry. Previously, carbonated soft drink sales were on the rise, but recently have slowed due to the increased consumption of bottled water. Other beverage categories like coffee, milk and beer have all slowed or remained constant, due in most part to competition from bottled water sales.
In 2003 bottled water sales passed $8.3 billion. This is an increase not only in volume, but in sales on the wholesale end.
