We love designing wedding labels and invitations – simply because there are so many ideas and options. The color schemes and themes and fonts to choose from, and design with, are nearly endless. This new custom wedding label and invitation set created for us by Christina from Brass Bell Design, is so ladylike and romantic, we are just in love with it! A lace theme is an easy way to give your wedding a romantic, antique, vintage theme and the accompanying decor details are so sweet. When we ran across this recipe for Peppermint Hot Fudge Sauce on Kitchn this week, we got the urge to whip up a batch of our own, create an adorable label and hand them out as party favors and presents to our family and friends this season. Check out the recipe! Sounds delicious…

Rhoda’s Peppermint Hot Fudge Sauce
Yields 4 cups

2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 t. Kosher salt
2 c. heavy cream
1 c. unsalted butter, cut into pieces
2 t. peppermint extract (substitute vanilla, if you don’t want the mint flavor)

Directions: In a double boiler over medium heat stir in cocoa, sugars and salt. Add the cream and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the butter is melted and the sauce comes together and is smooth and glossy. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Then, remove the bowl from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Stir in the peppermint extract. Store in the fridge and re-heat when ready to use.

Storage notes: This sauce is great to packages in glass jars for gifts. When pouring the sauce from the bowl into the jar it is helpful to use a kitchen funnel if you have one available. This sauce will stay in the fridge for up to two weeks or more.

Serving ideas: In addition to ice-cream, this sauce is excellent drizzled over slices of pound cake, cheesecake or a meringue. The version made with vanilla extract is also delicious served with poached fruit.

Ok, so we know that Halloween only happened yesterday, but its already time to start thinking about the next big holidays and planning ahead. We’ve been seeing holiday parties and ideas all over the place already, so we’re jumping on the bandwagon and saying, better start preparing and ordering your custom wine labels for the holiday season, today! It’s a busy season, so planning ahead is always a good idea.

Our friends over at Party Box Design always throw the best parties – filled with fun, creative details, beautiful decorations and to our delight, exquisitely designed custom labels! A few weeks ago, Jessica from Party Box Design put together a spooktacular Halloween party with sweet treats, kids in costumes, face painting and even a fantastic bar for the adults. We were lucky enough to create the custom labels Jessica designed for the bottled water, beer and wine at the party – and they turned out so great. We love the color palette Jessica chose – traditional orange and black but spiced up and made a little more modern and fun-loving with the light blue accents.

Linda from Frog Prince Cake and Cookie Design recently put together a tropical themed luau for her niece’s 1st birthday, and we contributed the labels for water bottles – take a look at how it all came together – its pretty cute!

Kids wore bathing suits and played on a water slide, and there were hula hoop contests to keep everyone entertained. As for the sweet dessert table, there were creatively decorated sugar cookies, pina colada cupcakes served under a mini tiki bar, brownies, themed candy (check out the Gummi pigs – hysterical!) and a gorgeous cake that was made by Linda herself.

Thanks for letting us be a part of such a special day, Linda! We love the way it all turned out.

When we saw this customer’s label, it was like a little light-bulb went on over our heads. How did it never occur to us that an umbrella themed baby shower was an adorable idea? We think taking the idea of a “shower” literally is a creative and fun party theme idea – and not one that you see too often. Make tissue paper clouds, rain drop garlands, decorate with cute umbrellas, and shower your loved one!

We are crazy about our new Milk and Cookies party theme set. It’s whimsical, fun, a little bit retro (because, let’s face it, the idea of milk and cookies as a snack is a little bit retro) and just the right amount of playful. All in all, the perfect set for a kids birthday party!

We’ve found a TON of inspiration for a sweet party like this. Let’s start with the milk. There are so many cute ways to display it and package it for your party.

We love the idea of the large glass juice containers filled with chocolate or regular milk – this would  also be a great idea for a wedding reception. Using old Starbucks Frappucino bottles, you can give them custom labels and they look like perfect little mini-milk bottles. So many options!

Next up, the most important part, if you happen to ask us – the cookies. Don’t think you have to stick with the standard chocolate chip variety – although, it is delicious. There are plenty of yummy choices – in fact, having an entire “cookie bar” with different types to choose from, is a great idea.

We recently created a new invitation and custom label set that would be perfect for any kid’s summer birthday party – boy or girl – The Ice Cream Social. An ice cream themed birthday party allows you to do cute decorations and the kids will love it – they can get involved scooping ice cream, tasting different flavors and even choosing toppings. Just beware of the sugar rush once its all over!

The label we made is completely customizable, so you can change the stripe colors in the background to fit whatever combination and color scheme your heart desires. The smaller custom label can be used for goody bags or party favors like those above. Fill a to-go ice cream cup with little trinkets and candy, and put the custom label on the side. Doesn’t get much cuter than that!

We recently provided labels for a Preppy Pink Crab Party hosted by Jess over at Party Box Design for her daughter, Charli. Charli loves crabs, and Jess loves a well put-together party, and we have to say, the results were fabulous. Using shades of pink, powder blue and navy with polka dots thrown in to add to the “preppy” vibe, Jess threw a summer crab fest that was fun for both the kids and adults.

There were steamed crabs, Crabby Ale (with labels from yours truly), and kids took home crabby cupcake push pops and cookies. Adults were given a jar of crabby spice – all done up with custom labels. Jess says it was her “favorite party yet” thanks to amazing vendors and a fantastic photographer, Cellar Door Photography.

There’s the birthday girl in her pretty pink tutu! How beautiful does the bar look – we love that its housed in an old-fashioned white hutch!

We are dying over how adorable those cupcakes from Lynlee’s Petite Cakes are. Almost too cute to eat…almost.

We love the label Jess designed for the water bottles we supplied! And the idea for a Crabby Ale is pretty darn cute.

The couple that Potter designed these custom labels for, were planning a sophisticated Chicago wedding. So, to bring to life all of their favorite places around the city, Alicia created wine labels with specific Chicago landmarks on them – one for each table at the wedding. She also designed mini wine bottle labels for each guest with their name and table information on them – a great souvenir they could take home with them.

We love the cute cartoon characters she created of her clients and the simple, graphic way she portrayed each of the landmarks.

There is great detail on these labels – Alicia even managed to get the Chicago skyline into the labels for the mini wine bottles that served as seating cards for the guests. Genius!

We love the simplicity of this water bottle label that recently came through our offices. The colors are so complimentary and we are big fans of the text done all in lower case. Its such a simple label for bottled water for a wedding, but it completely captured our attention – and naturally, it got our minds going – thinking about what the wedding could look like – especially with such a rich color scheme. The gray is a perfect balance for the two shades of pink in the label – keeps your wedding from looking too girly.

This is one of our favorite (and most popular) baby shower labels on the site, for its simplicity and clever “Wine before Whining” tag line. Often, people debate about whether or not to serve wine at a baby shower – given that the mother you’re honoring can’t partake in the drinking of it, but its becoming more and more common, and we are totally on board with that. They have every kind of cupcake liner imaginable – from animal prints to stripes in all the shades of the rainbow. Starting to feel like throwing a party? We are!

We’ve never seen straws like these – with stars and hearts and different colored polka dots. They make us want to drink out of a straw all day, every day.

Polka dots make cute decor for a kid’s party, and they have a varying assortment of polka dot favor bags in different colors. Put a custom label on them and you’ll have the cutest favors on the block!

This first ideas comes from the Room for Dessert blog. They simply took brightly colored soda pop in bottles and attached their own custom labels for each guest at the wedding. The bottles serve not only as a fun favor, or sweet treat to sip on, but also as the guests’ seat assignments. Cute and useful – we love it!

The next project are some adorable custom beer labels for a wedding that we saw on Green Wedding Shoes – we love the playful way they worded the names of their “personalized” beer. Its also a great and stylish idea to make a few different bottle labels that are all in the same color scheme and style – to add some variation to your bottles – plus, its more fun than making just one label. Till Death do Us Porter and Happily Ever Amber? Does it get sweeter than that?!

We’d never even thought about putting labels on a bottle of bubbles until we saw these over on Martha Stewart’s website, but isn’t this a fantastic idea for a kids’ birthday party?

Wedding Paper Divas gave us this sweet idea for favors at a wedding, shower or party. Even if you didn’t have a wedding or party coming up, this is a cool idea if you have a “world famous” cookie, brownie or jam recipe. Share with your friends and family as gifts and a personalized label to make it look all the more professional.

Easter is quickly approaching – have you thought about what you’re going to do to celebrate this year? We’ve been busy looking for Easter inspiration this week – party, favor, invitation and decoration ideas, and then we found these Bunny Brownies over at the No Fuss Fabulous blog.

These would make a fabulous personalized gift or party favor for your Easter celebration this year, and they’re so adorable, we’re pretty sure you’re guests would love them – and the thought and work you put into making them. Check out the recipe below, find a cute jar to hold all the ingredients, and then all you have to do is get some custom labels (we know a little bit about that, just sayin’) – change the name, add your name, whatever you can think of to make it personal and custom. Happy Easter!

BUNNY BROWNIES:

Ingredients and Directions:
1. Reduce 1 sleeve graham crackers to crumbs.
2. Layer 2/3 of the crumbs in a 1 qt jar.
3. Place 8 marshmallow bunny peeps standing up, facing out around the inside of the jar.
4. Press them up against the glass, but don’t squash them.
5. Carefully spoon remaining crumbs in the center of the jar to support the bunnies, pressing down to keep it snug.
6. On top of this pour 1-1/4 cup Easter M&M’s.
7. Spoon 1/3 cup brown sugar into center of M&M’s, gently pressing with a spoon.

Isn’t Rowhouse Brewing a great name for a brewery? We love it!

We were so enamored with these labels that we had to share them with you. And then, just today we came across this awesome set of four kitchen towels – made just for the beer lover in your life – by Etsy seller NestaHome. Hand-stamped with antique printing blocks, these towels just seemed like they fit well with the Rowhouse labels.

If we had a little brewery, we would be all about these towels – heck, even without a little brewery, we’re all about them!

Here, we picked one of our popular wedding labels, “Ribbons and Dots”, and matched it with some pink party accessories from Sweet Lulu. With one of our labels, and some treats from Sweet Lulu, this would be one perfectly coordinated and visually stunning party!

The purple bakers twine and purple polka dot straws would look great at a party with our “Camelot Dots” label. Fill those cake platters with some pretty purple-frosted cupcakes and you’d have everything you need to host a party people will definitely be ‘ooh’ing and ‘ahh’ing over.

While browsing one of our favorite wedding blogs, The Wedding Chicks, we found this little piece of eye-candy. The bride and groom from this real wedding had a wine made specially for their big day, with a customized label complete with the names of every one of the guests at their celebration. We love how the guest’s names make up the background of the label, and the personalized silhouettes of the bride and groom. Plus, its done in a great vintage style! This is a wonderful way to make your wedding one of a kind and also provide everyone with an incredibly special memento of the big day.

The second wedding wine idea today comes from the incomparable Martha Stewart. Make your wedding wine do double-duty as a part of the wedding decor. Have wine bottles labeled with stylish numbers to let guests know what their table number is. Place a few at each table as centerpieces and table markers, and let the guests serve themselves from your favorite blend.

Each season, Pantone brings the world the latest and most important color trends – used in design, fashion and more. This year’s color palette is inspired by exotic destinations like Africa, India, Peru and Turkey, using both warm and cool tones to balance one another in complimentary hues.

Coral Rose is a sophisticated orange with a bright, spicy feel to it, and Beeswax is a warm honeyed yellow – both of which look great paired with Regatta.

The romantic, fanciful color of Lavender goes great with Beeswax and Coral Rose, making a unique color pairing that is perfectly balanced. The alluring color of Blue Curacao is a goregous tropical hue that complements both Honeysuckle and Coral Rose. Peapod is our personal favorite for its fresh yellow-green color and the organic element it brings to the table.

The “nude hues” – Silver Peony, Silver Cloud and Deep Russett, go with just about everything in the palette, grounding the bright colors and providing an ethereal feel.

Finally, let’s not forget Honeysuckle – the official color of Spring 2011. Bright and flirtatious, this feel-good hue is playful and perfect for post-winter designs!

One of the great things about using personalized and custom labels is the ability to really get creative and come up with unique ideas not everyone would think of. This can be especially helpful when planning a wedding and making it all your own. We recently came across this brilliant idea for a wedding guest book, and we are truly smitten.

Instead of the traditional guest book, why not use wine bottles with custom labels? Simply choose four bottles of your favorite wine (one that will age well) and have custom labels created – one for your 1st, 5th, 10th and 20th anniversary. Personalize the labels with your names, wedding colors, and anniversary dates in the future, and then provide guests with a paint pen in silver or gold, and have them sign the bottles! You can even add graphics or a picture of the two of you.

It’s a sweet way to keep track of everyone who attended your big day and reminisce years down the road, when you uncork the special, personalized bottles on each milestone anniversary.

There are times, however, when it really doesn’t make sense to do things yourself.  Certain tasks can turn Do It Yourself projects into Definitely Irritate Yourself projects.

For example, if you don’t know how to sew it’s probably a disastrous idea to try to sew your own wedding dress.  Likewise, if you’re a kitchen disaster waiting to happen, baking an elaborate cake is probably a recipe for failure.

DIY water bottle labels is another one of those projects that you can find endless tutorials and customizable templates for online.  Tips for doing so range from buying waterproof paper to print on to printing the labels on your home printer and then adhering them to the bottles using packing tape.

What they fail to mention, however, is the sacrifice of quality you get when you try to print your own water bottle labels.  There’s just no way that anyone’s home printer can compare to the printing capabilities of a commercial grade digital printer.

Additionally, printing your own labels and then adhering them with packing tape is a huge pain.  Packing tape sticks to everything (including itself!) and getting it on straight so that it looks nice up-close is a very ambitious goal indeed.

DIY is lovely, when you can truly express yourself and take joy in creating something one-of-a-kind.  Save yourself the heartbreak and hassle of printing your own labels, though, and let us handle that for you.  You can still design a completely custom label, and stick the labels on yourself.

We’ll just take care of the printing, so you get all the creativity and none of the hassle!

Wedding Wine Label - Pop of Color

Using multiple designs in your wedding reception decor is a great idea!  Not only does it eliminate the need to pick just one awesome design, it gives your guests a variety of labels to look at.

The picture above features the custom wine labels of a couple whose brother and sister-in-law went with two different designs for the wine they’d made for their wedding.  The designs were in complimentary colors (black and white), but each label celebrates something different.  The bold monogram of one (the design is called “Script Monogram“, if you’re curious) proclaims the couple’s new last initial, and the photo on the other (“Scroll Frame“) shows off one of their cute engagement pictures.

To make this look work for you, find as many designs that you like and then share different information on each.  Here are some ideas for bits of info to share on custom wedding labels:

• Your engagement story.  This makes a great label for the back of the wine bottle, and will give guests something fun to read while they’re at the table.
• Trivia about the couple.  Put a different fact on each label design, and choose five or six different designs.  Guests will have fun tracking down all the different facts.
• Engagement pictures.  If you have more than one favorite engagement picture, share them on your custom labels.

No one ever said you couldn’t pick more than one design.  Spice things up with multiple designs!  Your decor will be varied and fun to look at as a result, and you’ll have a blast designing all the different designs!

Jones Soda has cottoned onto the idea that custom labels make their soda even more special, and will even print and apply your custom label for you to their bottles.  The problem with this is that you are restricted to using their label design layout, and you have to pay a small fortune for your soda!

Erika, the reigning social media expert and content queen over at Bottle Your Brand headquarters, celebrated her husband’s 30th birthday last week using BBQ food, a giant cupcake, and five different kinds of custom labels.

[singlepic id=272 w=240 h=240 float=center]Erika made sure to keep her guests hydrated and happy with custom water bottles.  The water bottle labels featured Yoda (from Star Wars) and Malcolm Reynolds (from Firefly), characters from two of her husband’s favorite shows.

She bought two cases of water from Costco, removed the original labels, and stuck the custom labels on in their place.  As you can see, the custom labels stayed perfectly on the bottles, even though the bottles were submerged in ice and water for hours.

A fun trick to get everyone mingling is to use a conversation piece that everyone can relate to.  At the birthday party pictured above, the hostess designed custom wine labels featuring the birthday boy at various stages of his life.  The different labels all had clever names for the wine that related to the birthday boy’s interests, and the guests mingled as they read and enjoyed the labels.

You can use this trick at any kind of party.  Childhood photos, witty wordplay, amusing illustrations, all of these work well on custom wine labels and will give your guests common ground to chat about.  Of course, the wine doesn’t hurt either!  Just make sure there’s plenty to eat and drink and then sit back as all your friends relax and enjoy your party.

The tricky thing about destination weddings is, What to bring?  Suitcase space is limited, but you don’t want to sacrifice your wedding style for luggage economy, so what do you do?  You think smart, that’s what!

One of our favorite little destination wedding tricks is to use custom water bottle labels for wedding favors and Out of Town Bags.  Custom water labels are small, and easy to tuck into a suitcase, but they make a huge impact when guests take a look!

We are so tickled to show these off to you!  Two of our very creative customers used our small water bottle labels on mini bottles of sparkling cider at their Ladies Christmas Dinner last night and, as you can see, the results were spectacular!

They chose our “Snowflake Ornaments” design and bought the labels in our small size.  Then, they bought mini bottles of Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider (you can find this at grocery stores) and applied the water labels right over the original labels.  The personalized labels fit nicely over the Martinelli’s label and it’s really easy to do!

They glammed up the bottles even more by using silver twine to tie tiny ornaments to the necks of the bottles.  The end result was custom and so eye-catching that countless women came over to admire their creativity!

Winter is a fabulous time to get married.  Even if you’re tying the knot smack dab in the middle of California (where the winters are really more like suggestions than reality) it’s still a fantastic season to plan your nuptials for.

You can have so much fun with rich fabrics and colors with a winter wedding.  The season naturally lends itself to rich hues and sumptuous accents.  Icicles and snowflakes are a lot of fun to use in decorating, or you can go the opposite way and make good use of cinnamon sticks and candles.

Either way, when you’re planning your wedding don’t forget to put some thought into your wedding favors!  Winter wedding favors are a lot of fun to give away, because you can go in so many different directions.

We’ve seen brides give away bottles of homemade apple cider, with custom wine labels and sticks of cinnamon tied to them.  We’ve also enjoyed weddings where the couple gave away personalized bottles of wine to each couple at their wedding (If you decide to do this, it’s a lot of fun to put a wish on the label that your guests go home and toast the bride and groom).

Our Sweet Cherry wine label features sumptuous design touches like a subtle crackle finish and tasteful plaid pattern.  The cherries are plump and ripe, and the label design is classic.  The colors on this label can be changed to suit your taste.

Patterned off a vintage soda-shop, our Limoncello label has charm to spare!  The black and white checkered floor and fresh lemon slice give this label a vibrant, attractive design.

The reason we love personalized wine labels so much for holiday gifts is that, not only are they adorable, they’re also an easy, inexpensive way to jazz up what is really the perfect gift for wine lovers: Wine!

Ways you can use this idea in your own wedding:

• Order the same label design but include a different tidbit on each sheet of labels.  Share bits of trivia about how you met, hobbies and interests, how you got engaged, honeymoon plans, etc.
• Use trivia answers to build a wedding crossword guests can fill out before the ceremony starts or during the reception.
• Place one bottle at each place setting at your reception, and give each place setting a bottle with a different trivia fact on it.  What a fun way to get a conversation going at each table!

Looking pretty good, huh?    We love those lolly pops tied to the bottles, it makes them look so festive!

The great thing about using our small water bottle labels as mini wine labels is that they wrap all the way around the bottle, so your bottles look great from all angles.  Plus, you have that much more room for pictures, words, whatever you like.  The height of our small water bottle labels is ideal for mini wine bottles, and with our completely self-adhesive labels, it’s simple to apply them.

If you take a look at the water label designs and don’t find any that tickle your fancy, try heading over to the wine labels section.  If you find a wine label design you love, just let us know and we can turn it into a water label for you!  We’re happy to work with you to craft a label that’s perfect for your celebration.

One small problem: You need water labels, not wine labels.  Oh no, right?

Wrong.  With almost all our designs, we can easily change the designs to fit a variety of label sizes.  This means that if you fall in love with one of our designs but it isn’t offered in the label size you want, all you have to do is let us know and we’ll work our magic.  For example, let’s look at one of our newer wine label designs, “Charmed“.  We had a bride who desperately loved the design, but needed it on water labels for her wedding, not wine labels.

What we did was turn this:

Most of our label designs look great on all our label sizes.  There are a few exceptions, but if you call and ask us we’ll be able to let you know right away whether your design will work on another label size.  With our huge selection of label designs, you’ll have no trouble finding a label design that’s perfect for your event!

[singlepic id=140 w=240 h=160 float=center]Pure American, a brand we were able to find at Safeway grocery store, is bottled spring water with an easy-to-remove plastic label.  Our large labels fit nicely on these bottles, with a 1/8″ overlap, and the bottles are sturdy and easy to work with.  The only down side to these bottles is the cap, which is bright blue.  These caps aren’t going to look great with every label design, so watch out for that if you’re planning to use these bottles for your event.

[singlepic id=139 w=240 h=160 float=center]The Refreshe brand of bottled water, which is the Safeway generic brand, also works well with our labels.  Their paper labels are easy to remove, and our large labels fit perfectly on the bottle.  There is a 1/4″ overlap of the labels with these bottles, however, so be careful if you label design has images or text that goes all the way to the edge of the label.  The clear caps and sturdy bottles make this bottle a versatile and inexpensive choice.

[singlepic id=138 w=240 h=160 float=center]Aquarius Spring, which is purified spring water, is carried at Safeway.  There are a few disadvantages to this brand.  First, the water is more expensive than any of the other brands we tried.  Two, there is a nearly 3/8″ overlap of our large label on the bottle, so if your images or text run right to the edge you risk covering them up.  Though the cap is attractive and the bottle itself is sturdy, we would not recommend using this brand if you have other 16.9 oz bottle options.

[singlepic id=134 w=240 h=160 float=center]The first national 16.9 oz water bottle we tried was the Dasani bottle.  These bottles are sturdy, unlikely to dent, and have a distinctive blue color that could tie in beautifully if you have any blue in your event décor.  Our large label size fits perfectly on this bottle, leaving only a 1/16″ gap in the back.  This is a really great brand of water to use so long as you don’t mind the blue cap and bottle.

[singlepic id=135 w=240 h=160 float=center]The next national brand we tried was Aquafina.  Aquafina actually offers two different 16.9 oz bottles, a regular 16.9 oz bottle and their 16.9 oz  EcoFina bottles, which use less plastic and are more environmentally friendly.  We tried our labels on both, and were pleased to discover that our labels actually fit perfectly on both types of bottle.  Our small label size actually works better on the EcoFina bottles than the large size, because this bottle is rather skinny.  The small label fits perfectly, leaving no gap at all, and the height of the label looks great on the bottle.  The only problem with the EcoFina bottles is that they’re very flimsy and dent easily.

Our large label size worked perfectly on the regular Aquafina bottle.  The ends met with just a slight overlap, and the height fits perfectly as well.  If we were to recommend any national brand of 16.9 oz bottled water for our personalized water labels, Aquafina would be it.  Our labels fit the bottles like they were made for each other.

[singlepic id=136 w=240 h=160 float=center]We also tried Arrowhead’s eco-friendly bottle.  This bottle is more flimsy than the EcoFina bottles, with a bizarrely narrow label area that did not fit any of our labels.  The bottles were very dented when we removed them from the packaging, and the narrow label area ensures that our labels hang off the edges of the bottle and look terrible.  We do not recommend Arrowhead’s 16.9 oz bottled water for use with our labels.

We’ll split the information into a couple different posts, showing you photos of our labels on the bottles, tips and tricks, and letting you know which brands we recommend and which brands we found difficult to work with.  Let’s get started with the small bottles, which we normally recommend for use with our small labels only size.

[singlepic id=133 w=240 h=160 float=center]The Arrowhead 8 oz bottle is a nationwide brand.  The bottles are pretty sturdy, and the clear caps look nice.  This bottle looks great with our small water bottle label size, though the edges of our small labels do not quite meet at the back of the bottle.  There is a 1/2″ gap at the back.  The original label was easy to remove, and our label fit perfectly from top to bottom.  A great recommendation for anyone who wants to serve 8 oz bottles.

[singlepic id=132 w=240 h=160 float=center]The Refreshe (a Safeway brand) 10 oz bottle is available at Safeway grocery stores.  This is a strong little bottle, so it’s not likely to dent, and we think the clear caps look great.  Our small label size fits the bottle really nicely, with a 1/8″ gap, and as you can see, the bottle looks really lovely with our custom label on it.  Since this is the generic brand of water carried at Safeway, it’s usually less expensive than the other brands.  A great option for someone with a Safeway store nearby!

[singlepic id=131 w=240 h=160 float=center]The Dasani 12 oz bottles are carried nationwide.  The interesting thing with this brand is that you can use either a small or a large label for the bottle.  The small label looks great in proportion to the rest of the bottle, but there is a sizable gap of 5/8″ in the back where the two label ends don’t quite meet.  If you use the large label, the ends have only a 1/8″ gap in the back.  Aesthetically, we think the small label fits the bottle porportions better, but you have to decide for yourself whether you’re ok with the large gap in back.  Here’s a close-up of the gap difference between the two label sizes.[singlepic id=130 w=240 h=160 float=center]

This bottle is a light blue color, with a dark blue cap.  As long as these colors won’t interfere with your event’s color scheme this is a great bottle as well.

We know many of our customers buy our custom beer labels to label their homebrewed beer, and it’s a lot of fun for us to see the names that go along with each batch and read the stories that accompany them.  We have a ton of designs that are perfect for summer brews, and we can also print completely custom designs as well.  With our completely self-adhesive and waterproof labels, you never have to worry about refrigerating your beer or keeping it on ice.  Our label look great no matter where you store your beer!

Here are some ways to help get you through this warm homebrewing season:

1. Try to maintain a constant temperature.  Places like basements are ideal, as they tend to stay pretty cool and constant in temperature.  Avoid places like metal garden sheds because these fluctuate wildly in temperature.
2. Let your fermenter sunbathe.  Air it out in the sunshine between brews to prevent it from becoming musty.  Just take care not to leave it in sunlight for too long so as to prevent the plastic from getting brittle.
3. Keep your brewing ingredients away from direct heat.  If you expose your yeast to high temperatures, you run the risk of reducing its quality and effectiveness.

Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be knocking back your delicious homebrew all summer long!

[singlepic id=127 w=160 h=240 float=center]That’s why we designed our brand new design, “Hair of the Dog“.  Even though there’s a dog name in the title, you can change the text to say whatever you like, and include any pet picture you want free of charge!  You can use that adorable picture of when your cat was just a kitten, or that amazing picture from when your dog got stuck in the trash can.

The dog featured in this example is named Doc Holliday, and he’s a lot bigger now and lives happily with one of the people who works here.  As you can see, virtually any photo will look great on this label, and you can get as creative as you like with the text.  Go nuts!  Have fun!  Just remember not to let your pet drink any of the wine, even if the bottle does have his/her name on it!

Beaches are natural locations for parties, because there’s a little something for everybody.  Playing in the water, hitting a volleyball around, or even just lazing around and taking in the view, no matter who you invite it’s bound to be a good time.  If you’re one of the lucky few who lives close to the beach, take advantage!  Beach parties are perfect for birthdays, holidays, or just about any other occasion!

Here are some beach party ideas to spark your creativity:

• Shelter.  Beaches don’t tend to offer a lot of shade naturally, so pack up a folding canopy or some umbrellas.  Someone will inevitably forget to put on sunscreen and will appreciate the shade like you wouldn’t believe!
• Cold drinks.  Beaches get hot, and there’s nothing worse than being parched and stuck without anything to drink!  Pack a cooler or two with ice and load it up beverages.  If you’re feeling extra fancy, use custom labels to spice up your beverages.  How cute would the water label featured above look on some water bottles sitting on the beach?!  Don’t worry, all our labels will withstand water and ice without smearing or falling off.
• Seating.  Sure, sitting on the sand is fine, but pack along some chairs as well for those who don’t want to or have difficulty sitting on the ground.
• Ice.  Don’t fall victim to food poisoning!  Keep all your food properly refrigerated by bringing along lots of ice.  Beach parties are fun, botulism isn’t.
• Activities.  Bring a volleyball net, some sports balls, and wood for a bonfire if you have a pit nearby.  By making sure there’s a variety of activities, you’ll insure your guests don’t get bored, though who can possibly get bored on the beach?

We have some really wonderful summery designs for water, wine, and beer.  Nuptial H2O, Adventurous Red, and Four Star are all perfect for summer, with bright colors that will really pop on the beach.  As far as beach party ideas go, this is a pretty original one!  Just stick on our fully adhesive labels, throw them into a cooler, and have fun!

That’s part of what makes planning an anniversary celebration so much fun.  When you get to honor two people who have been faithful to the vows they made to each other you can really get into the celebration aspect of the event.  A neat idea we’ve seen here lately for anniversary celebrations is using personalized wine labels to honor the happy couple.

These label designs can be a lot of fun, using old photos from the couple’s history to show how far they’ve come.  We’ve seen some people use old wedding photos, whereas others have used funny old photos of the couple from the beginning of their relationship.  With the right photo, and the right sentiment, personalized wine labels can be a beautiful and meaningful anniversary party idea.

If you’re interested in changing the font of one of our designs, here’s a little crash course on the wide world of font styles.  It’s really helpful to know a little bit about fonts so that when you request changes you can feel confident that what you request is what you’re expecting.

There are basically three main categories of fonts: serif, san serif, and script.

The easy way to distinguish serif from san serif fonts is the feet.  Take a look at this example of a serif font:[singlepic id=121 w=240 h=160 float=center]

As you can see, serif fonts have “feet” on the ends of the strokes.  Some examples of serif fonts are:

• Times New Roman
• Baskerville
• Bodoni
• Caslon

You can actually view a lot of these fonts using Microsoft Word.  Just type out a sentence and play around with the fonts until you find one that suits the theme and style you’re using for your event!  You can request that font in the “Special Instructions” field when ordering.

San serif fonts are clean-cut at the end of strokes.  Here’s an example of a san serif font:[singlepic id=125 w=240 h=160 float=center]

San serif fonts tend to look very clean and un-fussy.  Some examples of san serif fonts are:

• Arial
• Helvetica
• Futura
• Univers

Next, we come to script fonts.  Script fonts are beautiful, and vary widely in style from calligraphic to hand-written to clean cursive to elegant script.  Here’s an example of a script font:[singlepic id=124 w=240 h=160 float=center]

This style of font lends itself naturally to weddings, anniversaries, and other classy celebrations.  A few popular script fonts are:

• Edwardian
• Scriptina
• Old Fasion Script
• Aristocrat

• Label material.  There is waterproof paper available that you can print on at home.  The label stock we use, a synthetic waterproof material, will only work with a professional digital print press, but you can find other materials online that will work on your printer at home.  The thing to watch out for with these labels is durability.  They’re usually made from what is essentially paper with an adhesive backing and waterproof coating.  As such, they tear easily which can lead to a lot of ruined labels and not an insignificant amount of frustration on your part.  
• Mistakes: Waterproof paper labels are usually impossible to reposition should you apply them crooked.  This leads to many ruined labels and bottles.  Our labels are easy to reposition if you apply them crooked and won’t fall apart or leave adhesive on the bottles.  Even though we’ve all mastered the fine art of bottle labeling by hand, we still mess up on occasion.  Believe us when we say you’ll be grateful for the ability to lift up the label and try again if you mess up!
• The cost of ink.  If you’re printing a few hundred labels, chances are excellent you’re going to have to replace your ink at least once.  Especially if your label has a background color!  Weigh the cost of this new ink cartridge against the cost of buying your labels from us and see which option gives you the best deal.
• Your printer itself.  Unless you’re fortunate enough to own a top-of-the-line printer with perfectly aligned heads, you’ll probably need to give your printer a little tune-up to ensure that it prints the way you want it to.  If your printer has any eccentricities or maintenance issues, you could wind up feeling frustrated and annoyed with a piece of machinery that normally works just fine.  An ink splotch or mysterious spot may be unnoticeable on an essay, but those unsightly little quirks could ruin your entire set of labels!

When you order labels from us, they’re delivered to you quickly and ready and to go.  They’re already cut into individual labels, they’re printed, and they’re completely self-adhesive.  We do all the work for you so that when they arrive all you have to do is stick them to the bottles.  If you want to design your own label, all you have to do is email the artwork to us and we’ll print the labels for you.  It’s quick, easy, and completely frustration-free.

We put this fun favor together using easy-to-find materials and it was recently featured on the Style Me Pretty Blog!  Here’s how to make it:

The materials:

• 1 small glass jar with cork (purchased from Michael’s for $.99)
• 1 3 litre container of extra virgin olive oil (purchased from Cost Plus World Market for $24.99)
• 1 2.25 oz packet of Italian Seasoning (purchased from Cost Plus World Market for $1.99)
• 80 foot spool of raffia (purchased from Cost Plus World Market for $1.99)
• 30 custom labels (1 sheet of large water bottle labels purchased from Bottle Your Brand for $9.99)

The instructions:

1. We adapted a wine label design from Bottle Your Brand to fit onto a large water bottle label.  We were able to fit three small labels (measuring 2.125” W by 2.062” H) onto one large water bottle label (measuring 2.125” H by 8.062” W) by turning the design sideways and stacking them.  After the labels were printed, we used a paper-cutter to trim the large water bottle label down to the three small labels.  We were able to get three small labels out of one large water bottle label.
2. Put 1 ¼ tsp of Italian Seasoning into the empty bottle.  Using a small funnel, fill the rest of the bottle with extra virgin olive oil.  The small bottle we bought from Michael’s used about three ounces of olive oil to fill.  Insert the cork.
3. Peel the protective backing off the small custom label, and apply to the bottle.  If the bottle gets olive oil on it, we found that using Windex is a great way to clean the bottle off so that the label will stay on!  We picked a three-sided bottle so that the label would have a nice flat surface to sit on.
4. Measure out 12 inches of raffia and loop twice around the neck of the bottle.  Tie a simple double knot, then trim the edges so that they are even at a length you think looks nice.

If you were to make 50 favors (one per couple) you would end up spending less than $2.30/favor for a completely custom, adorable DIY favor!

For those who have never attended a baby shower, wouldn’t know a shower game from a board game, and feel an oddly perplexed sensation when faced with the term “diaper cake”, the idea of throwing a baby shower can seem bewildering.  After all, you’re being asked to help a friend/family member celebrate a new baby while entertaining a group of perhaps strangers, while also trying to help the new mom get equipped with everything she’ll need for her newest addition.  It’s a big job!

As with everything, there are trends and themes for baby showers that it may be helpful for anyone to know.  Here are some of the hottest baby shower trends to help and inspire everyone, from the baby shower newbie to the veteran:

1. Co-ed baby showers. Inviting men to help celebrate a new baby is very popular right now.  It may seem counterintuitive to have a bunch of guys helping to ogle the onesies, but if structure it right the father-to-be can have a lot of fun too.  A co-ed shower is not as structured, should have plenty of food, and will optimally have an equal number of men and women.  This article is very helpful in figuring out the mechanics of a co-ed baby shower.
